Pony.ai has announced a push towards commercialization with the launch of its cost-efficient autonomous robotaxis and a new Level 4 (L4) electric light-duty truck model. This L4 truck is designed for full-scenario and all-weather autonomous driving, featuring full redundancy across key systems. It is expected to significantly reduce freight costs per kilometer by 40% to 50% compared to traditional human-driven transport, while providing a cargo capacity of 18 cubic meters. Notably, both the robotaxi and truck utilize the same technology stack and will operate in the same regions, facilitating shared infrastructure, including energy replenishment and service centers.
Pony.ai: Pony.ai is an autonomous driving company that develops self-driving technology for robotaxis and commercial vehicles. At Auto China 2026, the company announced lower-cost Gen-7 robotaxis with a total vehicle cost expected to fall below RMB 230,000 in the Chinese market, alongside the world’s first fully automotive-grade, fully redundant L4 autonomous light-duty truck developed with CATL for urban logistics applications.
